Nephi Craig is a professional chef and
founder of the Native American Culinary
Association. His presentation at GBC will
include a small “tasting” of indigenous foods
and a discussion of past/present cultural
practices related to the preparation and
consumption of food.

Vince Juaristi HUMANITIES SPEAKER
Vince is a “farm boy who hails from Elko, Nevada” who went
on to graduate from Harvard with a Master’s in Public Policy
and has served in appointed positions for President George
W. Bush and President Barack Obama. The son of a Basque
immigrant, Vince will tell the history of why and how workers
from the Basque country played a critical role in settling the
American West.

Portraits of Basque Immigrant Women
The Great Basin College Library will host this photo collection
compiled by Peter Oberlindacher. The 41 black-and-white
environmental portraits are accompanied by excerpts of the
women’s life stories, collected by Basque scholar Begona
Pecharroman.
January 22 through February 28, 2018.
Monday – Thursday 8 am–7pm, and Fridays 8 am–5 pm.
